Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight to Rome, Italy.

Day 2 - Rome
Arrive in Rome. After collecting your luggage and clearing customs meet your Travel Director, board your private motor coach and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Later enjoy an orientation walk before your welcome dinner.

Day 3 - Rome
This morning a guided tour will introduce you to the sites of ancient Rome, you’ll see the Forum and Colosseum - one of the most impressive sights in Rome. The building was completed in 80 A.D. and at its peak held 87,000 spectators. This afternoon, step back in time, put on your own gladiator gear, and participate in Gladiator Games at Castrum Legionis. After dinner, enjoy a walk around the Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps and finish your night with a gelato at the Trevi Fountain.

Day 4 - Rome
This morning, a local guide will introduce you to the smallest state in the world, Vatican City, home of the Pope but also home to almost 1,000 other residents. You’ll visit Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, Saint Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Gardens. Later, you’ll take an interactive pizza making class and enjoy your creation for dinner!

The Trevi Fountain

Legend has it that if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain that you will return to Rome. Throw two and you will fall in love, throw three and you’ll get married. This legend is so popular that every day over 3,000 Euros are collected from the water and given to a local charity that supports families in need throughout Rome

Day 5 - Rome
Take a day trip to Florence by fast-speed train. Take a guided walking tour with an expert local guide through Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. See the highlights of this beautiful city, such as Florence’s cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, Ghiberti’s famous Baptistry Doors, Santa Croce and the Piazza della Signoria. This afternoon, enjoy some time to explore the local markets, shops and gelaterias. Return to Rome.

Day 6 - Athens
Fly from Rome to Athens. Today, take a guided tour of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Then view the Agora, followed by a visit to the Acropolis Museum. Later, enjoy an evening of Greek culture, eat local cuisine, watch dancers perform to traditional music and dance the night away!

Day 7 - Athens
This morning, embark on a day cruise of the Saronic Islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra.  These islands are known for their art and culture, history and natural beauty. Lunch is included and served on board.

Did You Know?

Acropolis comes from the Greek “Akron” meaning highest point and “Polis” meaning city. The term is actually generic for the highest point in any city.  Thus you will find an acropolis in many Greek cities, but only the iconic hill in Athens comes to mind for most people.

Day 8 - Athens
This morning, visit a sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation center, and learn about this non-profit’s mission to help save local sea turtles. This afternoon, spend time at the beach.

Day 9 - Santorini
This morning, take a ferry to picture perfect Santorini - known as The Black Pearl of the Aegean. Disembark and enjoy an excursion to Akrotiri and the stunning ruins of a settlement which dates back to 4000 BC and was buried under volcanic ash.

Day 10 - Santorini
Today, a boat excursion takes you to the caldera of Santorini, where you will have the opportunity to hike up the volcano and swim in the hot springs. Later, explore the town and it’s many shops and cafes.

Did You Know?

The Santorini Caldera is a large volcanic crater which is said to hold the key to the secrets of the lost city of Atlantis. The caldera is an incredible 400 meters deep making it impossible for a boat to anchor here.

Day 11 - Crete
Your journey continues by sea as you board a ferry to the island of Crete. Known for it’s incredible ruins and breathtaking beaches, Crete is the largest and most populous island in Greece. This afternoon, take a walking tour of Heraklion, the capital of Crete.

Day 12 - Crete
An excursion today takes you to one of the most well preserved medieval cities in Greece - Rethymno and the traditonal village of Vamos. Here you will have the opportunity to meet with locals and learn about their customs and traditions. Tonight, join your group’s farewell dinner celebration!

Day 13 - Departure Day
Transfer to the airport for return flight to the USA.
