Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Boston
Meet your group at Boston’s Logan airport and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy an orientation walk of Boston’s Back Bay before a welcome dinner.

Day 2 - Boston
Massachusetts is consistently ranked as one of the major hubs for the Biotech industry in the world. Today you will visit a leading Biotech company, and meet with a member of the management team to learn more about the company and exciting career opportunities in the life sciences. Continue with a visit to the Museum of Science where science and technology come alive. Finish the day with a fun and unique tour of Boston by land and by sea on a Duck Tour, aboard a replica of WWII amphibious vehicle.

Day 3 - Boston
This morning enjoy a robotics workshop at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Continue with a walking tour of the beautiful campus of Harvard University. Established in 1636, this prestigious, Ivy League school is the oldest institute of higher learning in the United States. In the late afternoon meet with a local specialist to discuss the US initiatives in offshore wind research.

Cambridge, MA, home to Harvard and MIT, is considered a global magnet for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. In fact, one square mile in Kendall Square has been called “the most innovative square mile on the planet.”

Day 4 - Overnight Flight
Take a walk along the 2.5 mile long Freedom Trail. Pass parks, churches, meeting houses, cemeteries and historical markers and learn about their tremendous significance to the history of the United States. Later transfer to the airport to board your overnight flight to Iceland.

Day 5 - Reykjavik
Welcome to Iceland, the Land of Fire and Ice. Your first stop today is at the Viking World museum where you will see the Viking Ship Íslendingur (the Icelander) and learn about viking explorers like Leif Erikson and Norse mythology. Continue to the world famous Blue Lagoon to enjoy a relaxing swim in the warm waters of the geothermal spa. End the day in Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Reykjavik
Travel to the Golden Circle today to see some unique geological and geothermal features. Your first stop is at the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant. Then visit the Frioheimar tomato greenhouse and taste tomatoes grown using geothermal technologies. Continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area with its hot springs, geysers and waterfalls the Golden Waterfall which is one of the most impressive in Europe. Finally, you'll head to Þingvellir, home of the world's oldest democratic parliament and the site of the dividing fault line between two of earth’s tectonic plates. Return to Reykjavik for overnight.

Experts in Renewable Energy

Iceland is ranked as one of the eco-friendliest countries in the world. Almost all of the energy supply in Iceland (85%) is produced using renewable energy sources, notably geothermal and hydro power. Compare that with the16% share of renewable energy produced in the United States. Reykjavik is already considered the leading renewable energy capital in the world and is working towards the goal of being a carbon-neutral city by 2040.

Day 7 - Reykjavik
This morning drive to the mountainous area around the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano. Visit the Lava Centre. This interactive educational exhibition depicts the volcanic activity that created Iceland over millions of years. Afterwards drive to the Solheimajökull Glacier for a hike along this beautiful terrain. Return to Reykjavik for overnight.

Day 8 - London
Board your flight bound for London. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided overview of the city. You will see amongst many highlights Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Hyde Park, St Paul's Cathedral and Buckingham Palace (including the Changing of the Guard if available). In the evening enjoy a typical "fish and chips" dinner followed by a walk around Covent Garden.

Day 9 - London
This morning visit the Natural Science Museum with its vast collection of life and earth specimens. The museum is particularly famous for its collection of dinosaur skeletons. In the afternoon, science comes alive as you participate in a hands-on forensic workshop. In the evening enjoy a stroll around Regents Street and Piccadilly Square.

Day 10 - London
Travel about two hours southwest of London for an excursion to Stonehenge. Explore this mystical structure that was built around 4000 years ago and learn how the huge blocks of stone were transported to this site. This was quite a marvel of engineering for the prehistoric builders who had a profound knowledge of astronomy. Attend a theater performance this evening in London’s West End.

Day 11 - London
Drive north of London for an excursion to Bletchley Park, once the top secret home of Allied code breakers during World War II. Explore fascinating exhibitions about the work done here and how it affected the outcome of the war. Try your hand at cracking codes during an interactive workshop and see the ‘Colossus’ code breaker, the world’s first large-scale electronic digital computer. You will also visit the National Museum of Computing, home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers.

Did You Know?

Stonehenge took over 1,000 years to build. Construction started about 5,000 years ago during the Neolithic Age. Archaeologists believe the final changes were made around 1,500 BC during the early Bronze Age.

Day 12 - London
This morning drive to the Oxford area for a visit to the Mini factory where all the parts are assembled to make these iconic cars road-ready. Continue to Oxford where you will take a walking tour that includes a visit to Christ Church College which served as the inspiration for Hogwarts in JK Rowlings’ popular Harry Potter books. See the stairway and the Great Hall which will be familiar to lovers of the film series.

Day 13 - London
Take a boat along the Thames to Greenwich. You will visit the Greenwich Royal Observatory where Greenwich Mean Time is measured from as you stand on the Prime Meridian, the longitudinal zero point that separates the eastern and western hemispheres. You will also take a tour of the universe during a show at the planetarium. Continue with a self-guided visit to the National Gallery to admire the highlights of this vast collection of art.

Day 14 - Departure Day
Transfer to the airport for your group return flight to USA.
