Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight to Athens, Greece. As they say in Greece - Kaló taxídi!
Day 2 - Athens
Arrive in Athens. After collecting your luggage and clearing customs you will meet your Travel Director, board your private motor coach and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Enjoy your first taste of the local cuisine at a welcome dinner this evening.
Day 3 - Athens
This morning a local guide will introduce you to Athens and it’s fascinating history and architectural wonders. You’ll climb the Acropolis and visit the Parthenon, the iconic symbol of Athens and learn all about this former temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.
Did You Know?
Acropolis comes from the Greek “Akron” meaning highest point and “Polis” meaning city. The term is actually generic for the highest point in any city. Thus you will find an acropolis in many Greek cities, but only the iconic hill in Athens comes to mind for most people.
Day 4 - Saronic Gulf Cruise
Transfer to the port and embark on a cruise of the Saronic Islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. These islands are known for their art and culture, history and natural beauty. Lunch is included and served on board. Return to Athens in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Mykonos
This morning depart Athens for the port of Piraeus where you will board a ferry bound for the whitewashed Cycladic island of Mykonos. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. This evening stroll around the maze that is Mykonos town, marvel at the sunset in Little Venice and see the famous Mykonos windmills. Be sure to keep your eye out for Petros the pelican, the island’s mascot.
Day 6 - Mykonos
A guided sightseeing of Mykonos will take you to the charming traditional village of Ano Mera. You’ll also visit The Church of Panagia Paraportiani with its eclectic mix of Byzantine, traditional, vernacular and western styles. This popular church is actually four churches in one, and is the most photographed church in Mykonos.
Day 7 - Mykonos
You’ll have an entire free day to explore or enjoy one of the many world famous beaches of the “Island of the Winds”.
Did You Know?
Olives are a fruit? Kalamata olives grown on the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece are considered one of the healthiest foods and are a good source of healthy fat and antioxidants. They are a staple of the Mediterranean Diet and ingrained in the Greek cuulture. “I ate bread and olives with him” is a common saying which denotes friendship.
Day 8 - Santorini
Take a ferry to the island of Santorini, known as The Black Pearl of the Aegean. Disembark and enjoy an excursion to Akrotiri and the stunning ruins of a settlement which dates back to 4000 BC and was buried under volcanic ash.
Day 9 - Santorini
Today a boat excursion takes you to the caldera with an opportunity to hike up the volcano and swim in the hot springs.
Day 10 - Santorini
Enjoy a free day to stroll around Fira exploring it’s souvenir shops and exquisite boutiques. Alternatively enjoy the breathtaking views and beautiful beaches of this stunning island.
Did You Know?
The Santorini Caldera is a large volcanic crater which is said to hold the key to the secrets of the lost city of Atlantis. The caldera is an incredible 400 meters deep making it impossible for a boat to anchor here.
Day 11 - Crete
Your journey continues by sea as you board a ferry to the island of Crete. Known for it’s incredible ruins and breathtaking beaches, Crete is the largest and most populous island in Greece. Visit the Palace of Knossos and learn about the island’s ancient Minoan Civilization.
Day 12 - Crete
An excursion today takes you to one of the most well preserved medieval cities in Greece - Rethymno and the traditonal village of Vamos. Here you will have the opportunity to meet with locals and learn about their customs and traditions.
Day 13 - Crete
Free day to explore Crete, go shopping for last minute souvenirs, people watch from one of the many cafes, or relax on the beach!
Day 14 - Departure Day
Transfer to the airport for return flight to the USA.
