Day 2 – Athens

Welcome to Greece!

Upon arrival in Athens, meet your Program Director after clearing customs and transfer by private motor coach to your centrally located hotel. After time to settle in, enjoy an orientation walking tour through the city’s historic center, getting your first glimpse of Athens’ lively squares, cafés, and centuries-old neighborhoods where ancient ruins blend seamlessly with modern life.

This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner at a traditional Greek taverna. Savor authentic local specialties while getting acquainted with the culture, hospitality, and flavors that make Greece one of Europe’s most beloved destinations.

Day 3 – Athens

Step back nearly 2,500 years as you explore the birthplace of Western civilization.

This morning, enjoy a guided visit to the magnificent Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched high above Athens. Walk among the legendary Parthenon, the graceful Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike while your guide shares stories of ancient Greek mythology, democracy, philosophy, and architecture that continue to influence the modern world.

Continue to the spectacular Acropolis Museum, where beautifully preserved sculptures and artifacts offer a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in ancient Greece.

This afternoon, enjoy free time in the charming Plaka neighborhood, often called the “Neighborhood of the Gods.” Wander its narrow stone streets lined with family-owned shops, galleries, and inviting cafés, or simply relax with a coffee while soaking in the atmosphere beneath the Acropolis.

This evening, experience authentic Greek culture during a traditional dinner featuring regional cuisine, live music, and energetic folk dancing. Guests are welcome to join the dancers for a memorable evening of celebration.

Day 4 – Saronic Islands Cruise

Today, discover the beauty of the Aegean Sea aboard a full-day cruise through the picturesque Saronic Gulf.

Your first stop is Aegina, an island famous for its world-renowned pistachios, charming waterfront promenade, and fascinating ancient history.

Continue to Poros, where colorful neoclassical buildings line the harbor and the iconic clock tower overlooks one of Greece’s prettiest island ports.

Your final destination is the enchanting island of Hydra, where automobiles are prohibited and transportation is by foot, donkey, or water taxi. Stroll through elegant cobblestone streets lined with stone mansions, art galleries, boutique shops, and waterfront cafés while enjoying one of Greece’s most beautifully preserved island communities.

Lunch is included onboard as you sail between islands, offering spectacular views of the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean.

Day 5 – Santorini

This morning, board a ferry to breathtaking Santorini, widely considered one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption over 3,500 years ago, the island’s dramatic cliffs rise high above the deep blue waters of the caldera.

Upon arrival, visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri, often referred to as the “Pompeii of the Aegean.” Preserved beneath volcanic ash for thousands of years, this remarkably advanced Bronze Age city offers an extraordinary look into one of Europe’s earliest civilizations.

This evening, travel to the picturesque village of Oia, where whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches, and winding pathways create one of the world’s most photographed landscapes. Gather at Oia Castle to witness Santorini’s legendary sunset as the sky glows with brilliant shades of gold, pink, and orange over the Aegean Sea.

Day 6 – Santorini

Day 7 – Crete

This morning, travel by ferry to Crete, the largest of the Greek islands and home to a rich blend of ancient civilizations, Venetian architecture, mountain villages, and beautiful coastlines.

Upon arrival in Heraklion, enjoy a guided walking tour through the island’s vibrant capital. Discover the impressive Venetian Fortress overlooking the harbor, the elegant Morosini Fountain, the historic Venetian Loggia, and bustling local markets where residents have gathered for generations.

Enjoy free time to browse local artisan shops featuring handmade ceramics, olive oils, herbs, wines, and traditional Cretan products.

This evening is yours to explore Heraklion’s lively dining scene. Enjoy dinner at one of the city’s welcoming tavernas or seafood restaurants while experiencing the warm hospitality for which Crete is renowned.

Day 8 – Western Crete

Today’s excursion showcases the authentic traditions and timeless beauty of western Crete.

Begin in the beautifully preserved Venetian town of Rethymno, where colorful alleyways, historic churches, elegant Venetian architecture, and a picturesque harbor create one of Greece’s most charming old towns. Visit the impressive Fortezza, offering sweeping views over the town and the Mediterranean Sea.

Continue to the traditional village of Vamos, where local families continue centuries-old agricultural traditions. This afternoon, roll up your sleeves for an authentic Cretan cooking class. The remainder of the evening is free to continue exploring Heraklion or simply relax and enjoy your final full day on the island.

Day 10 – Crete

Today, journey back more than 4,000 years with a guided visit to the legendary Palace of Knossos, the ceremonial and political center of the Minoan civilization and Europe’s oldest known city. Walk through beautifully restored courtyards, royal chambers, and ceremonial halls while hearing the fascinating legends of King Minos, the Labyrinth, and the mythical Minotaur.
