Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Departure to Madrid
Board your overnight flight to Madrid, ready for an unforgettable educational adventure!
Day 2: Welcome to Madrid
Arrive in Madrid, where your Program Director will meet you at the airport. After settling into your hotel, head to Retiro Park, where you’ll explore the beautiful gardens, row boats on the lake, and taste traditional horchata. In the evening, join a welcome dinner with your group, introducing you to Spanish cuisine and customs.
Day 3: Art, Culture, and Cooking in Madrid
Kick off the day with a guided city tour and a visit to the Prado Museum, studying masterpieces by Goya, El Greco, and Velázquez. Then, head to the legendary Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for an exciting behind-the-scenes look at Real Madrid’s home turf. In the evening, dive into Spanish culinary traditions with a hands-on cooking class, learning to make paella. End the day with churros and chocolate at the iconic Chocolatería de San Ginés.
Day 4: Exploring Toledo and Journey to Granada
Travel to Toledo, where a local guide will lead you through its rich multicultural history, visiting the Gothic cathedral, Santa Maria la Blanca synagogue, and Santo Tomé chapel, where you’ll see El Greco’s famous artwork. As you journey toward Granada, stop in La Mancha to see the famous windmills that inspired Don Quijote. After arriving in Granada, take an evening walk through the Albaicín quarter, enjoying breathtaking views of the Alhambra.
Day 5: The Alhambra and Mediterranean Coast
Tour the Alhambra Palace, where you’ll learn about its architectural and cultural significance and explore the beautiful Generalife Gardens. After lunch, travel to the Costa del Sol for an overnight stay along the Mediterranean, enjoying Spain’s coastal charm.
Day 6: Beach Day and Flamenco on the Costa del Sol
Spend a relaxing day by the Mediterranean Sea, soaking up the sun, exploring local cafes, and browsing the markets along the Costa del Sol. In the evening, join an interactive Flamenco dance class, learning the steps and rhythms of this passionate Spanish art form.
Day 7: Tangier, Morocco – Culture and Markets
Cross the Straits of Gibraltar by ferry to Tangier, where you’ll experience Moroccan culture firsthand. Visit Cape Spartel, take a camel ride, and explore the Kasbah’s winding streets. After a traditional Moroccan lunch, discover the vibrant Medina markets, perfect for learning about local spices, textiles, and crafts. Return to Costa del Sol for the evening.
Day 8: Whitewashed Villages and Arrival in Seville
Say goodbye to the coast and travel to Ronda, famous for its whitewashed houses and scenic views from the historic bridge. Explore Ronda’s old town with your guide, then continue to Seville, the lively capital of Andalusia. In the evening, stroll through the Santa Cruz quarter, soaking up Seville’s traditional atmosphere.
Day 9: Exploring Seville – History, Architecture, and Kayaking
Start with a guided tour of Seville’s highlights, including the Plaza de España, the Royal Palace, and the city’s majestic Cathedral. Climb La Giralda tower for stunning views of Seville. In the afternoon, enjoy a fun kayaking excursion along the Guadalquivir River, experiencing the city’s sights from the water.
Day 10: Crossing to Portugal and Historic Évora
Journey from Spain into Portugal, with a stop in the historic town of Évora. Your guide will lead you through its UNESCO-listed sites, including the Roman Temple, Évora Cathedral, and charming town square. Continue on to Lisbon, where you’ll begin to explore Portugal’s fascinating heritage.
Day 11: Discovering Lisbon and Tile Workshop
A local guide will introduce you to Lisbon’s rich history, including the Monument of the Discoveries, the historic Alfama district, Rossio Square, and St. George’s Castle. Visit the Jerónimos Monastery before diving into Portuguese artistry with a hands-on tile-painting workshop, where you’ll create your own azulejo ceramic tile. Cap off your journey with a festive farewell dinner, celebrating your adventures and newfound knowledge.
Day 12: Return Home
Transfer to the airport for your return flight, bringing home memories of a hands-on, immersive journey through the history, art, and cultures of Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.
