Day by Day Itinerary
12-Day Teen Travel Summer Program: Madrid (2), Granada (1), Costa del Sol (3), Seville (2), Lisbon (2)
Day 1: Departure to Madrid
Your adventure begins! Board your overnight flight to Madrid, excited for an unforgettable journey through Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.
Day 2: Welcome to Madrid
¡Bienvenidos a Madrid! Upon arrival, meet your Program Director and settle into your accommodations. Start your day at Retiro Park, where you’ll stroll through beautiful gardens, row boats on the lake, and sample traditional horchata, a refreshing local treat. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your group, introducing you to Spanish cuisine and customs.
Day 3: Art, Culture, and Cooking in Madrid
Begin your day with a guided tour of Madrid, visiting iconic landmarks and diving into the city’s history. Head to the Prado Museum to admire masterpieces by Goya, El Greco, and Velázquez. Then, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the legendary home of Real Madrid. In the evening, roll up your sleeves for a paella cooking class, learning to make this beloved Spanish dish. End your day with churros and chocolate at the iconic Chocolatería de San Ginés.
Day 4: Exploring Toledo and Journey to Granada
Travel to the historic city of Toledo, where a local guide will take you through its rich multicultural history. Visit the Gothic cathedral, Santa Maria la Blanca synagogue, and Santo Tomé chapel, home to El Greco’s masterpiece. On your way to Granada, stop in La Mancha to see the windmills that inspired Cervantes’ Don Quixote. After arriving in Granada, enjoy an evening walk through the Albaicín quarter, taking in stunning views of the Alhambra.
Day 5: The Alhambra and Mediterranean Coast
Tour the iconic Alhambra Palace and its enchanting Generalife Gardens, discovering the history and architectural beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch, travel to the Costa del Sol for an overnight stay along the Mediterranean, where you’ll experience Spain’s coastal charm and laid-back atmosphere.
Day 6: Beach Day on the Costa del Sol
Soak up the laid-back vibe of Spain’s southern coast with a full day by the Mediterranean Sea. Play soccer on the beach, swim in the warm waters, or just relax in the sun with your friends. Wander through local markets and seaside shops, and taste your way through Spanish treats at beachfront cafés
Day 7: Tangier, Morocco – Culture and Markets
Cross the Straits of Gibraltar by ferry to Morocco, where you’ll step into the vibrant culture of Tangier. Visit Cape Spartel, take a camel ride along the coast, and explore the Kasbah with its winding streets and colorful architecture. After a traditional Moroccan lunch, wander the bustling Medina markets, discovering local spices, textiles, and crafts. Return to the Costa del Sol for the evening.
Day 8: Whitewashed Villages and Flamenco Show!
Say goodbye to the coast and travel to Ronda, known for its dramatic cliffs and iconic Puente Nuevo bridge. Explore the charming streets and whitewashed houses of this historic town. Continue on to Seville, the lively capital of Andalusia. In the evening, immerse yourself in Spanish culture with an interactive Flamenco dance class, learning the steps and rhythms of this passionate art form.
Day 9: Exploring Seville – History, Architecture, and Kayaking
Discover Seville’s highlights on a guided tour, including the Plaza de España, Royal Alcázar Palace, and the majestic Cathedral of Seville, where you’ll climb La Giralda for panoramic city views. In the afternoon, experience Seville from a new perspective with a kayaking excursion on the Guadalquivir River.
Day 10: Crossing to Portugal and Discovering Lisbon
Journey from Spain into Portugal and head to Lisbon, the vibrant capital city. Upon arrival, explore Lisbon with a local guide, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Monument of the Discoveries, Alfama district, Rossio Square, and St. George’s Castle. Stop at the Jerónimos Monastery, a stunning example of Portuguese Gothic architecture. In the evening, settle into your accommodations and enjoy your first Portuguese dinner!
Day 11: Sintra, Pena Palace, and Farewell Dinner
Travel to the enchanting hillside town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its storybook setting and colorful architecture. Tour the magnificent Pena Palace, perched high above the town and offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. After returning to Lisbon, enjoy some final free time to explore or relax. In the evening, come together for a farewell dinner!
Day 12: Return Home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, bringing back unforgettable memories of your immersive journey through the art, history, and cultures of Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.
