Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure Day

Your adventure begins! Board your flight to South Africa, filled with excitement for the unforgettable journey ahead.

Day 2 – Welcome to Johannesburg

Touch down in Johannesburg and meet your local Travel Director. Transfer to your hotel, settle in, and enjoy a special welcome dinner with your group. The adventure is just beginning!

Day 3 – Exploring Johannesburg

Dive into South Africa’s rich history and culture. Begin the day with a visit to Constitution Hill, where you’ll explore the Old Fort, Women’s Jail, and Number Four, uncovering the story of South Africa’s road to democracy. Later, hop on a bicycle and tour Soweto Township, home to landmarks like Nelson Mandela’s and Desmond Tutu’s residences. Hear firsthand accounts of the student uprisings that shaped South Africa’s history.

Days 4-6 – Karongwe Private Game Reserve

Venture to Karongwe Private Game Reserve for an unforgettable 3-day safari. Head out on five thrilling game drives, including early morning expeditions to spot big cats and other wildlife. Dive deeper into South Africa’s wildlife conservation efforts during an expert-led talk. Between game drives, marvel at the stunning vistas of the Panorama Route, including the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Three Rondawels.

Day 7 – Cape Town Arrival

This morning, fly to Cape Town and ascend the iconic Table Mountain via cable car for sweeping views of the city and coastline. That evening, join a lively Djembe drumming dinner, celebrating South African culture with music and cuisine.

Day 8 – Cape Peninsula Adventure

Visit the adorable penguins at Boulders Beach and kayak alongside them in their natural habitat. Travel along the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point, where you’ll ride the Funicular to the lighthouse and take in the dramatic ocean views. Wrap up the day with dinner at the vibrant V&A Waterfront.

Day 9 – Robben Island & Bo-Kaap

Take a ferry to Robben Island, where former inmates will guide you through the prison that held Nelson Mandela. In the afternoon, stroll through the colorful streets of Bo-Kaap and join a Cape Malay cooking workshop to learn about the area’s rich cultural traditions through its cuisine.

Day 10 – Giving Back in Cape Town

Spend the day connecting with local communities through meaningful service projects. Whether it’s supporting women’s workshops, helping with animal protection programs, mentoring youth, or assisting refugee training initiatives, your contributions will make a lasting impact.

Day 11 – Farewell, South Africa

Say goodbye to South Africa as you depart from Cape Town International Airport. Reflect on the incredible experiences, new friendships, and memories you’ll carry with you forever.

Day 12 – Arrival Home

Arrive back in the U.S., bringing home the stories, sights, and personal growth from your South African adventure.

Teens aged 13–18 can sign up for this program on their own or with friends. They’ll join a group of like-minded students from across the United States, led and chaperoned by experienced, passionate, and globally-minded U.S.-certified educators.
