Day by Day Itinerary
10-Day Teen Travel Program: Lima (2), Sacred Valley (2), Aguas Calientes (1), Cusco (3)
Day 1 – Departure Day
Your journey begins! Depart for Lima, Peru, ready to embark on an adventure filled with history, culture, and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, meet your local Travel Director and transfer to your hotel to settle in for the night.
Day 2 – Exploring Lima
Kick off your exploration of Lima with a visit to Love Park in Miraflores, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Continue to Huaca Pucllana, an ancient adobe pyramid that once served as a ceremonial center. Wander through Lima’s historic Main Square to see the Government Palace, Town Hall, Cathedral, and Santo Domingo Convent.
In the afternoon, head to the bohemian district of Barranco to visit the Pedro de Osma Museum, a stunning colonial art collection housed in a 1906 mansion. Discover centuries-old paintings, sculptures, silverwork, and more as you learn about Peru’s artistic heritage.
Day 3 – Sacred Valley
Fly to Cusco and travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, stop at Awanacancha, where you’ll meet alpacas and llamas and learn about traditional Andean weaving techniques. Explore the colorful Pisac Market, where you can shop for handmade crafts and taste local specialties like empanadas.
Day 4 – Sacred Valley Immersion
Begin your day in Chinchero, a charming town known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant textiles. Witness a demonstration of traditional dyeing and weaving techniques passed down for generations. Next, visit the dramatic concentric terraces of Moray, believed to have been an Incan agricultural laboratory.
Later, spend time with the Mullaka’s Misminay community, joining them for daily agricultural activities and a shared lunch. Wrap up the day by visiting a local school, where you’ll engage in arts and crafts, play soccer, and connect with students to learn about their education and daily life.
Day 5 – Aguas Calientes
This morning, visit the Incan town of Ollantaytambo and explore its fortress and temples, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Then, board the Expedition Train, featuring panoramic windows, and journey to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
Day 6 – Machu Picchu and Cusco
Today, ascend the winding road to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Explore its terraces, ceremonial sites, and urban areas, all set against the dramatic backdrop of the Urubamba River and canyon. After an awe-inspiring visit, return to Cusco by train.
Day 7 – Cultural and Historical Cusco
Begin your day at a bustling local market, where you’ll gather fresh produce for a hands-on cooking class. Learn to prepare traditional Peruvian dishes and enjoy the fruits of your labor for lunch.
In the afternoon, explore Cusco’s historical landmarks. Visit Sacsayhuamán, an impressive Incan fortress, and Q’enqo, an ancient temple. See Tambomachay’s sacred fountains and take in the view from Puca Pucara. End the day at the Temple of the Sun, or Korikancha, and marvel at the priceless colonial art in Cusco’s Cathedral.
Day 8 – Kayaking and a Lagoon Picnic
Travel to the serene Huaypo Lagoon for a morning of kayaking on its crystalline waters. Learn about the region’s natural history while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding snowy mountains. Afterward, relax with a lakeside picnic featuring local Peruvian specialties.
Days 9–10 – Return Home
Transfer to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. From there, connect to your overnight flight home, bringing with you unforgettable memories of your Peruvian adventure.
