Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Departure Day
Your Germany Performance Tour begins as you depart for Berlin, ready to immerse yourself in the rich musical traditions of Europe. Ahead lies a week of cultural discovery, artistic growth, and unforgettable performance experiences in two of Germany’s most historically significant cities.
Day 2: Arrival in Berlin & Transfer to Leipzig
Willkommen in Deutschland! Upon arrival in Berlin, you’ll be greeted by your full-time local Program Director, who will remain with you throughout your time in Europe. After loading your equipment truck, you’ll board your private motorcoach and travel to Leipzig — widely regarded as Germany’s musical capital. As you settle into this historic city, enjoy an orientation tour through Leipzig’s charming old town, where cobblestone streets and beautifully preserved architecture reflect centuries of artistic and cultural influence. This is the city where Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Wagner shaped Western music history. After time to check in and freshen up, gather for a welcome dinner as a group and begin building excitement for the week ahead.
Overnight in Leipzig.
Day 3: The Legacy of Bach & Evening Performance
Today begins with a full buffet breakfast before diving into Leipzig’s extraordinary musical heritage. Participate in a private orchestra clinic or workshop led by faculty from the world-renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra or the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig — founded by Felix Mendelssohn and the oldest university of music in Germany. This hands-on experience offers students the opportunity to refine their craft in the very city that shaped so many of the great composers. Later, explore Leipzig’s historic center with a guided tour that includes entrance to St. Thomas Church, where Johann Sebastian Bach served as Thomaskantor, and the Bach Museum in the historic Bose House. View original manuscripts, artifacts, and visit Bach’s final resting place — a powerful moment for any young musician. This evening, take the stage for your first performance at Peterskirche Leipzig, sharing your music in one of the city’s stunning sacred spaces.
Overnight in Leipzig.
Day 4: In the Footsteps of the Masters & Cultural Exchange
This morning, continue your journey through musical history with a guided “In the Footsteps of Composers” tour. Visit the Schumann House, the Wagner Memorial, Leipzig Opera, St. Nicholas Church, Old City Hall, and the Mendelssohn House. As you walk through these historic landmarks, you’ll gain deeper insight into how Leipzig became a global center of classical music. In the afternoon, participate in a meaningful exchange experience with a local student orchestra. Share music, collaborate, and connect across cultures — one of the most rewarding aspects of international performance travel. Dinner together this evening, followed by free time to explore downtown Leipzig’s lively atmosphere before returning to your hotel.
Overnight in Leipzig.
Day 5: Transfer to Berlin & River Spree Cruise
After breakfast, depart Leipzig and travel by private motorcoach to Berlin — Germany’s dynamic and ever-evolving capital city. Upon arrival, experience Berlin from a unique perspective during a scenic cruise along the River Spree. As you glide through the city, observe the striking architectural contrasts that reflect Berlin’s complex history and remarkable transformation. This evening, enjoy dinner together. Based on availability, attend a performance by the world-famous Berliner Philharmoniker — an inspiring opportunity to witness one of the finest orchestras in the world perform in their home city.
Overnight in Berlin.
Day 6: Discovering Berlin & Final Performance
Today, explore Berlin’s powerful history during a comprehensive guided tour. Walk along Unter den Linden, visit Gendarmenmarkt and Bebelplatz, see remnants of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, and stand before the iconic Brandenburg Gate. You’ll also view the Reichstag Building, Berlin Cathedral, and the moving Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church — each site offering important context to Germany’s 20th-century history and modern identity. After free time for exploration or shopping, prepare for your final performance of the tour at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church or Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche Berlin. Sharing your music in Berlin provides a meaningful and celebratory culmination of your week abroad. Gather for a festive farewell dinner to reflect on the friendships formed, musical growth achieved, and memories created.
