Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight to London, excited for the journey ahead.
Day 2 – Arrival in London
Arrive in London and transfer by private motor coach to your centrally located hotel. After settling in, head out for an orientation walk to explore iconic landmarks such as Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus. In the evening, enjoy a traditional “fish and chips” dinner, followed by a stroll around the lively Covent Garden.
Day 3 – London Sightseeing & West End Show
Today, embark on a guided tour of London’s famous sights, including Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Hyde Park, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace. If available, witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony. In the afternoon, engage in a thought-provoking discussion on peace and diplomacy with a former British Ambassador. Cap off the day with dinner and a West End theatre show!
Day 4 – WWII History & Tower of London
Visit the Churchill War Rooms, the underground nerve center where Winston Churchill directed Britain’s war effort during WWII. Experience the tense atmosphere of the era. In the afternoon, head to the Tower of London for a guided tour by a Beefeater, where you’ll learn about the history of this fortress and its role in guarding the Crown Jewels.
Day 5 – Fly to Berlin
Depart London and fly to Berlin, Germany. Upon arrival, transfer to your centrally located hotel. Later, explore the Schöneberg district on an orientation walking tour. This vibrant area is known for its eclectic culture and historical significance.
Day 6 – Berlin City Tour & Holocaust Memorial
Dive into Berlin’s complex history with a guided tour of the city. Visit key landmarks such as Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and the Television Tower. Pay your respects at the Memorial for Europe’s Murdered Jews, a hauntingly powerful tribute to the Holocaust victims. The memorial’s grid of stelae and the accompanying underground information center will give you insight into this dark period in history.
Day 7 – Day Trip to Buchenwald Concentration Camp
Take a full-day excursion to Buchenwald, one of the largest concentration camps established by the Nazis within Germany’s 1937 borders. Learn about the horrors that took place here, and visit the historic city of Weimar en route back to Berlin for dinner.
Day 8 – Potsdam Conference & Nazi History
Visit Cecilienhof, the site of the Potsdam Conference, where the Allies discussed the post-WWII order in 1945. Then, travel to the House of the Wannsee Conference, where Nazi officials orchestrated the “Final Solution.” En route, visit the Grunwald Memorial/Track 17, a somber reminder of the deportations during the Holocaust. Enjoy some free time for souvenir shopping in Berlin before gathering for your farewell dinner.
Day 9 – Departure Day
Transfer by private motor coach to the airport in Amsterdam for your return flight home, bringing with you lasting memories of London, Berlin, and the profound historical experiences.
