Day 1 – Departure Day

Your Iceland adventure begins! Board your overnight flight and get ready to explore one of the most geologically active and environmentally innovative countries in the world.

Day 2 – Arrival in Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon

Welcome to Reykjavik! Upon arrival, start the trip with a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon. Relax in the warm, mineral-rich waters while learning how Iceland uses geothermal energy not only for power, but also for wellness and daily life. Later, continue to Reykjavik for dinner and an overnight stay, getting your first look at Iceland’s colorful buildings, creative culture, and coastal setting.

Day 3 – The Golden Circle: Geology, Energy & Democracy

Today’s journey follows Iceland’s iconic Golden Circle, showcasing the forces that shaped the island. Begin at the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant, where students learn how geothermal heat is converted into clean, renewable energy that powers homes across Iceland. Next, visit Friðheimar, a geothermal-powered greenhouse that shows how Iceland grows food year-round despite its climate. Continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area to see erupting hot springs, followed by a stop at Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls. End the day at Þingvellir National Park, where students can stand between two tectonic plates and learn about Alþingi, the world’s oldest democratic parliament. Return to Reykjavik overnight.

Day 4 – Whale Watching & Reykjavik Walking Tour

Head out from Reykjavik’s harbor on a whale-watching excursion, with chances to see whales, dolphins, and seabirds while learning about Iceland’s marine ecosystem and conservation efforts. In the afternoon, explore Reykjavik on a guided walking tour, including the striking Hallgrímskirkja and the city’s vibrant downtown. Learn how Reykjavik blends modern design, sustainability, and community life.

Day 5 – Volcanoes, Glaciers & Black Sand Beaches

Travel along Iceland’s south coast to explore landscapes shaped by fire and ice. Begin at the Lava Centre, an interactive exhibit that explains Iceland’s volcanic history and ongoing activity. Continue to Sólheimajökull, where students walk alongside the glacier and learn about ice movement, melting, and the impacts of climate change. Later, visit Reynisfjara, famous for its basalt columns, crashing waves, and Icelandic folklore. Return to Reykjavik in the evening.

Day 6 – Reykjavik Waterfront Bike Ride & Free Exploration

Begin the day with a guided Icelandic horseback riding experience just outside Reykjavik. Ride these unique and gentle Icelandic horses through scenic lava fields and rolling countryside, learning about their history and the special tölt gait that makes them famous around the world. It’s a memorable way to connect with Iceland’s landscape and rural traditions. In the afternoon, return to Reykjavik for free time to shop for souvenirs, visit local cafés, and explore the city’s vibrant street art scene before gathering together for your group’s final farewell dinner.

Day 7 – Departure Day

Transfer to the airport for your return flight home, bringing back unforgettable memories, new perspectives on sustainability and climate science, and a deeper understanding of how people adapt to extreme environments.
