Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Denver
Your adventure begins as you check in for your overnight international flight to Cape Town, South Africa. Settle in and get ready for an exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Arrival in Cape Town
Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your local Program Director and guide who will be with you throughout your stay. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and orientation with your group before settling into your accommodations. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 3: Cape Town City Highlights & Table Mountain
Start your day with a scenic cable car ride up Table Mountain, where you’ll take in sweeping views of the city and coastline. Back in the city, enjoy a guided orientation tour of central Cape Town before visiting the colorful Bo-Kaap neighborhood to learn about its Malay Quarter heritage. The afternoon is yours to explore the lively V&A Waterfront, with plenty of time for shopping and dinner. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 4: Cape Peninsula Adventure
Set out on a full-day guided excursion along the Cape Peninsula. Travel the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive, passing through charming villages like Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town. Explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve—the southwesternmost point of Africa—before sitting down to a seafood lunch in Simon’s Town. In the afternoon, visit the famous Boulders Beach to see the colony of African penguins before returning to Cape Town for the evening. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 5: Community Engagement in Cape Town
Spend the day immersed in a meaningful community project in Cape Town. Depending on local needs, you may participate in school visits, community upliftment programs, or environmental initiatives. This hands-on experience allows you to connect with local residents while making a positive impact. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 6: Hermanus Excursion
After breakfast, drive two hours to Hermanus for a memorable whale-watching cruise, keeping your eyes peeled for these majestic creatures. Enjoy lunch at the iconic Bientang’s Cave before returning toward Cape Town. Along the way, stop at the Cheetah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to learn about conservation efforts and get a closer look at these incredible animals. End the day with dinner at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront before returning to your hotel. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 7: Cape Town → Karongwe Game Reserve
This morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and transferring to Cape Town Airport for your domestic flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival, transfer to Shiduli Safari Lodge in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. After a warm welcome and lunch at the lodge, head out on your first afternoon game drive in open 4x4 vehicles. Dinner will be served back at the lodge.
Day 8: Safari & Community Engagement
Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Karongwe Private Game Reserve, spotting some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. Later, visit a local school and nearby village to take part in cultural exchange activities. In the afternoon, return to the reserve for another game drive as the sun begins to set. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Anti-Poaching & Safari Experience
Rise early for a sunrise game drive before spending the day learning about conservation challenges in South Africa. Join the Karongwe Anti-Poaching Unit for a unique behind-the-scenes experience, including meeting the Black Mambas, South Africa’s first all-female anti-poaching team. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy another afternoon/evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10: Safari & Departure
Your final day in South Africa begins with one last early morning game drive, followed by breakfast at the lodge. After checking out, transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for your domestic flight to Johannesburg, where you’ll connect with your overnight international flight back to the U.S.
Day 11: Arrival in Denver
Arrive back in Denver with unforgettable memories of South Africa’s vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters.
