Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Departure Day

Begin your life-changing adventure as you board your flight to South Africa!

Day 2 - Arrival in Johannesburg

Arrive in Johannesburg and meet your local Travel Director. After checking into your hotel, enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow Girl Scouts, reflecting on the empowering journey ahead.

Day 3 - Johannesburg: History & Empowerment

Dive into Johannesburg’s rich history with a visit to Constitution Hill. Explore the Old Fort, Women’s Jail, and the Constitutional Court to learn about South Africa’s struggle for freedom and justice, and the powerful role women played. In the afternoon, set out on a bicycle tour of Soweto Township, visiting Nelson Mandela’s and Bishop Desmond Tutu’s homes. This experience will connect you with the stories of resilience and leadership that have shaped South Africa’s history.

Days 4-6 - Karongwe Private Game Reserve: Conservation & Leadership

Embark on a 3-day safari adventure at Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Go on five game drives, including early morning safaris to witness active wildlife. A highlight will be meeting the Black Mambas, an all-female anti-poaching unit. Learn about their critical work in wildlife conservation, and how they are breaking gender barriers by protecting South Africa’s wildlife. Engage in conversations about leadership and conservation while exploring the stunning Drakensberg Mountain range and Blyde River Canyon.

Day 7 - Cape Town: Nature’s Inspiration

Fly to Cape Town and take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain. Enjoy panoramic views of the city and its natural surroundings while reflecting on how nature empowers us to think big and embrace challenges. In the evening, experience an authentic Djembe drumming session, building unity and confidence through rhythm.

Day 8 - Cape Town: Adventure & Wildlife Conservation

Begin your day kayaking with penguins at Boulders Beach, learning about marine conservation and how local communities protect these unique animals. Continue to Cape Point, where you’ll explore the natural beauty of this remote location and gain a deeper appreciation for conservation efforts. The day will end with dinner at the V&A Waterfront!

Day 9 - Cape Town: Culture & History Through Empowerment

Visit Robben Island to learn about Nelson Mandela’s time in prison, guided by former inmates who share their personal stories of courage and resilience. In the afternoon, explore the colorful Bo Kaap neighborhood and take part in a hands-on Cape Malay cooking class. This cultural immersion will empower you to connect with the rich traditions of the local community while learning how food can bring people together.

Day 10 - Cape Town: Giving Back to the Community

Today, give back by participating in community service projects. Choose from a variety of initiatives, such as helping at a women’s skills workshop, a youth development center, or an animal protection organization. This day will focus on the power of service, showing how small actions can create big changes and leave a lasting impact on the communities you visit.

Day 11 - Victoria Falls: Connecting with Nature

Fly to Zimbabwe and arrive at Victoria Falls. In the evening, take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, reflecting on the trip’s experiences so far while soaking in the stunning beauty of the African landscape.

Day 12 - Victoria Falls: Witnessing a Natural Wonder

Take a guided tour of Victoria Falls, marveling at the sheer power and beauty of this World Heritage Site. Learn about the local ecosystem and the challenges it faces, while appreciating the natural wonders that inspire conservation efforts. Reflect on how nature’s strength mirrors your own ability to make a difference.

Day 13 - Victoria Falls: Elephants & Conservation

Participate in the “Through the Eyes of the Elephant” experience, where you’ll learn about elephant conservation, human-wildlife conflict, and how local communities are working to protect these majestic animals. Engage in hands-on activities that support the Zambezi Elephant Welfare and Conservation Trust, empowering you to contribute to the survival of this endangered species.

Day 14 - Departure from Victoria Falls

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg, then depart for your return journey home, carrying with you memories of empowerment, connection, and conservation.

Day 15 - Arrival Day

Arrive back in the U.S., filled with new experiences, personal growth, and the knowledge that you’ve made a difference in the lives of others and the environment.
