Spend the afternoon connecting with Costa Rican students, learning about their daily lives, and sharing your own experiences. Later, visit Arenal Volcano National Park for breathtaking views of the active volcano and the stunning La Fortuna Waterfall, which cascades nearly 250 feet. In the evening, visit an organic farm to learn traditional Costa Rican cooking techniques and prepare your own delicious dinner.

Day 5 – San Carlos Wildlife and Community Service

Embark on a boat ride along the Rio Frio to the world-renowned Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. Keep an eye out for a diverse array of wildlife, including caimans, howler monkeys, iguanas, and colorful bird species like roseate spoonbills and cormorants. Bring along school supplies or small toys to donate and brighten their day.

Begin your journey back to San José, with a stop at the famous Crocodile Bridge in Tarcoles. Here, observe the massive crocodiles that inhabit the river and learn about their behavior and habitats. In the evening, depart for Panama! This evening, enjoy a group dinner and orientation, learning about Panama’s fascinating history and culture.

Day 7 – The Panama Canal and Casco Viejo

Start the day with a visit to the Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal. Witness this engineering marvel in action and learn about its pivotal role in global trade and Panama’s history. In the afternoon, explore Casco Viejo, Panama City’s historic district. Stroll through cobblestone streets, visit colonial landmarks, and discover the stories behind this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wrap up the day with a hands-on cultural activity, such as a traditional Panamanian dance workshop or cooking class featuring local dishes.

Day 8– Panama’s Indigenous Culture

Participate in activities such as weaving, painting, or learning about medicinal plants, and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch made by the community.

Day 9 – Gatun Lake and Farewell Dinner

On your final day, embark on a memorable boat tour of Gatun Lake, a vast artificial lake integral to the Panama Canal’s operation.
