Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in San José

Board your flight to San José, the vibrant capital of Costa Rica. Upon arrival, meet your local Travel Director and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy an orientation walk through the city, learning about San José’s colonial past and Spanish influences. This walk will help set the tone for the journey as you explore Costa Rica’s rich cultural history. End the day with a welcome dinner, where you’ll get to know your fellow Girl Scouts and reflect on the empowering journey ahead.

Day 2 - Discovering San Carlos

This morning, head to the town of La Fortuna. Visit Arenal Volcano National Park, where you’ll explore the powerful natural beauty of the active volcano. This visit will encourage reflections on strength and resilience, both in nature and within ourselves. Afterward, hike to La Fortuna Waterfall, an incredible 250-foot drop that inspires awe and wonder. End the day by soaking in natural hot springs, a perfect moment to unwind and connect with fellow travelers while embracing the geothermal warmth from the earth.

Day 3 - Exploring Nature in San Carlos

Start the day with a scenic drive through the countryside, passing plantations of sugar cane, pineapples, and oranges. Arrive at the Rio Frio for a boat cruise through the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, where you’ll learn about the importance of biodiversity and conservation. Keep an eye out for rare birds, monkeys, iguanas, and caimans. This day will focus on connecting with nature and understanding our role in preserving the environment for future generations.

Day 4 - Empowerment Through Community in Monteverde

This morning, go horseback riding through the picturesque countryside, connecting with the land and Costa Rica’s agricultural heritage. In the afternoon, you’ll meet students from a local school. Engage in meaningful conversations with your peers and participate in activities like soccer, arts and crafts, or dancing. This exchange is all about building friendships and learning from one another and sharing your cultures!

Day 5 - Adventure and Empowerment in Monteverde

Explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest, home to diverse wildlife and breathtaking flora. Learn about the importance of protecting these ecosystems and the role girls and women can play in environmental conservation. In the afternoon, push your limits by flying through the canopy on a zip-line course, experiencing the forest from a new perspective. After the excitement, participate in an interactive cooking class, learning to prepare a traditional Costa Rican meal. This activity will foster creativity, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of local culture.

Day 6 - Giving Back and Relaxing in Manuel Antonio

Spend the morning at a local orphanage, where you’ll have the opportunity to connect with children, play, and teach them basic English. Bring school supplies to donate, and reflect on the impact of your contribution. In the afternoon, head to Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Coast, where you’ll spend the rest of the day soaking in local culture and relaxing at the beach, taking time to recharge and reflect on the power of service.

Day 7 - Exploration in Manuel Antonio National Park

Spend the day exploring the stunning Manuel Antonio National Park. Wander the trails through lush forests, spot playful Capuchin monkeys, and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the park’s pristine beaches. This day will offer a chance to connect with nature and reflect on how the environment can inspire both mindfulness and adventure.

Day 8 - Journey Back to San José

On the way back to San José, stop at the famous Crocodile Bridge in Tarcoles, where you’ll witness the powerful crocodiles resting in their natural habitat. Back in San José, gather for a special farewell dinner with your fellow Girl Scouts, sharing stories of personal growth and the friendships made during your time in Costa Rica.

Day 9 - Return Home

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA, taking with you unforgettable memories, a deeper connection to nature, and the empowering experiences that have shaped you during your time in Costa Rica.
